In February, 2002 BV Software released the first commercial ASP.NET shopping cart software shortly after Microsoft released the .NET Framework version 1.0. BV Software was founded in 2001 by Marcus McConnell, an eCommerce specialist with experience building shopping cart solutions for international retailers such as EddieBauer.com, Godiva.com and 1-800-Flowers.com. Marcus saw an opportunity to deliver a world-class shopping cart solution to small businesses on the Microsoft platform. The company designs and develops world class eCommerce solutions that allow businesses of all sizes to deliver a Fortune 500 online experience.

BV Software expanded it's product line in 2006 with dotNetBB message forum software and a SQL Find and Replace Utility. Five versions of BV Software's award winning shopping cart software have been released and it continues to win awards and strong praise from small businesses.

In 2009 BV Software added BV Commerce Hosted, an on-demand shopping cart solution designed to get small businesses up and running quickly and easily. The combination of a licensed toolkit and hosted service provides merchants with a growth path from startup to global enterprise.

In 2011, BV Software introduced MerchantTribe, a new shopping cart platform with sophisticated analytics tracking built in to help merchants grow their stores. MerchantTribe is offered as both a free, open-source software package and as a commercial hosted offering. By working together, MerchantTribe stores learn and implement best-practices for online commerce helping the entire community create successful online stores.
